Everything is dark. You are unable to see anything and need to rely on your other senses to figure out the situation you’re in and how to deal with it. What is everyday life for blind people will now also be simulated at an event organized by the Vienna Business Agency.
At the “Business Treff: Technologien für Blinde Menschen” event, businesses will meet providers of technologies designed to address challenges visually impaired or blind people are confronted with everyday. This may concern tasks like moving around unknown (indoor) venues, reading the menu at the restaurant or finding products you need at the supermarket.
indoo.rs will be there to talk about their Visually Impaired Navigation solution for indoor venues. This solution not only helps blind people move around inside buildings, but also discover and navigate towards Points of Interest in their vicinity, e.g. electrical outlets, vending machines or any other amenity normally sighted people would notice by simply looking around.
What’s so special about this presentation, is that it will be held in a pitch black environment at the premises of Dialog im Dunkeln, to further emphasize the issue.
Dialog im Dunkeln is an organization dedicated to give normally sighted people a better understanding of what it’s like to live with a visual impairment. They offer experiences such as “Dinner in the Dark”, “Dialogue in the Dark”, “Concerts in the Dark” and much more.
If you are interested in innovative solutions that help reduce some of the stress and inconvenience blind people have to deal with everyday, you should definitely join the event.
