We recently had the pleasure to work with two great, young and ambitious people who actively supported our research and development teams during their two-month internship here at indoo.rs. We always like to ask them about their background, their work and personal experience at indoo.rs and share it with you. First up is Caroline Hangler, who was working in software development.
Quick intro: Tell us about yourself
My name is Caroline Hangler and I’m studying Mobile Computing at the University of Applied Sciences at Campus Hagenberg, Upper Austira. In my last semester of my bachelor-studies, it is obligatory to do an internship and I’ve decided to do mine at indoors!
What was your goal?
My personal goal was to do an internship that’s actually meaningful and helps me strengthen my skills as a software programmer. I also wanted to learn one or the other new thing and gain some work experience at a company like indoo.rs. I think you can also say that another goal was to work efficiently and be helpful for the team.
What was a typical day at indoo.rs like?
I was working with the software development team and I’ve mainly done tasks in the mobile field. I spent most of my time working on the Android app, but also on the indoo.rs measurement tool and the iOS app. These tasks involved a lot of testing, debugging and making improvements. I really enjoyed that my work schedule was so flexible, allowing me to organize each day on my own from beginning to finishing time.
What did you learn during the internship?
First of all, it was a great experience working on big projects, in a great team. I learned about new project management tools, which really help giving projects a structure and organizing workflows efficiently. I also liked that the working language here is English, because it gave me a chance to practice my English skills in a working environment.
Last but not least, I was able to improve my programming skills. The team was very supportive, giving me lots of advice and I was able to work on many different tasks. It does take some time until you fully understand indoo.rs tools and apps, but with every day and every task I completed, I started to feel more confindent until I finally got the hang of it.
